NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 1, 2024 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host the 2024 Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country Championships on Saturday, November 2, at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center in Smyrna, Del.
The championship races will begin with the Men’s 8K race at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Women’s 5K race at 12:00 p.m. The top 15 runners from each race will earn All-MEAC team accolades.
The MEAC Cross Country Championship races will broadcast on ESPN+. The broadcast will be the first for the MEAC Cross Country Championship in conference history. The championship races will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will include interviews, award and trophy presentations of the winners.
Norfolk State has earned the men’s MEAC championship four consecutive seasons, claiming the title in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023. The Spartans return Gidion Sigei, the 2022 and 2023 individual champion, and Raphael Kitur who finished second in last year’s championship race.
Norfolk State’s women took the 2023 title, to claim their second MEAC championship in three years. The Lady Spartans return Mercyline Kimaiyo the reigning MEAC Women’s individual champion, Jahmei Wyatt, Dorcas Kosgei and Ludjenie Mondesir from last year’s championship team.
