
Professional bodybuilder Marcello De Angelis is embracing a new challenge as he makes the transition from the Men’s Open to the Classic Physique division. After spending the past few years competing among the biggest athletes in the sport, Marcello has decided to shift his focus, aiming to cut down some weight and bring a brand-new physique to the stage. This move marks a return to familiar territory, since he has previously had aspirations in Classic Physique and is now ready to give the division another shot.
The motivating reason for Marcello De Angelis’ transition to Classic Physique is primarily his health. He believes that cutting down some weight will help improve his physical well-being. However, seeing that he holds the desire to compete in bodybuilding, switching over to Classic Physique aligns best with personal goals. He announced the decision on his Instagram profile.
“I’m here to announce that I’m changing to the CLASSIC PHYSIQUE category to align my professional, personal and athlete life in one direction, more quality of life and longevity still competing at the highest-level representing Brazil and now WPINK! Let’s get the spot and show what I’ve always brought, compete having a social and professional life outside of the stages!”

Marcello De Angelis announced his presence in top-level bodybuilding by securing his IFBB Pro Card at the 2021 Expo Super Show in the Men’s Open division. However, Marcello decided to transition to Classic Physique shortly after, which did not go as planned, considering that he got hospitalized just a week before his debut and ended up losing 9 kilograms (19.8 pounds).
Marcello De Angelis managed to recover and get to the 2022 Expo Supershow in Brazil but ended up not meeting the criteria for the Classic Physique division. He weighed in at 104.8 kilograms (231 pounds), thus exceeding the limit of 101 kilograms (222.7 pounds). From there, Marcello made the decision to go back to the Men’s Open division.
Marcello De Angelis had some impressive performances in the Men’s Open at the pro level, finishing top three at the 2023 IFBB Romania Muscle Fest and 2024 IFBB Bigman Spain, along with a couple of other credible results. However, after some deliberate thinking and evaluation, Marcello is ready to give Classic Physique another shot.
Even in his earlier days, Marcello De Angelis was always recognized as one of the biggest prospects in bodybuilding. So, it is not a surprise that he won multiple shows, including victories at the Panamericano, Sulamericano, and Brasileiro competitions. So, there is no doubt that he will find even more success in the future.

Although he competed in the Men’s Open, what stood out the most about Marcello De Angelis was his tight waist and shape that clearly seemed suited for Classic Physique. So, many are delighted to hear that he will be giving his all to make a mark in the division, where he could certainly contend for the most coveted titles.
