Australian actor Hugh Jackman‘s focus on fitness has only helped him thrive further in the entertainment industry. On June 13, 2025, he showcased impressive deadlifting strength during a sneak peek of his training session at 56 years old.
Jackman has continued to keep fans on the edges of their seats for years. His contributions to film and entertainment have turned him into a worldwide star. He’s best known for playing Wolverine in the celebrated X-Men franchise, as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In addition to pushing the pace in solitude, Hugh Jackman has kept fans updated on his latest workout collaborations. He trained and pumped iron alongside actor Ryan Reynolds, whom he shared the big screen with for Deadpool 3. For years, Jackman has managed to maintain very low body fat percentages while simultaneously showing off some serious strength.
Jackman’s training endeavors have long been under the microscope. Physiologist and amateur bodybuilder Dr. Mike Israetel has analyzed and even critiqued some of Jackman’s toughest workouts. Having studied the X-Men star’s most common lifts, Dr. Israetel was left impressed with his attention to detail and his approach to body mechanics. With his strength seemingly knowing no bounds, Jackman pushed the pace, delighting fans with a look into one of his hardcore training sessions.

In the recently published Instagram reel, Hugh Jackman is seen grunting his way through some intense deadlifts using a trap bar.
Given Jackman’s impressive physique and corresponding strength, some believe he may be achieving his physicality with some added help. Greg Doucette, an IFBB Pro and popular YouTuber, believes Jackman has used performance-enhancing drugs to attain his body. He made it clear he doesn’t believe Jackman to be natural and denied that the world-renowned actor ate up to 6,000 calories a day to pack on quality size and muscle.
Jackman himself has responded to these steroid allegations. Candidly speaking on the matter, he revealed that he hasn’t used exogenous hormones to get in shape for any movie roles:
“No,” Jackman said when asked about steroid use. “I love my job, and I love Wolverine. I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old-school way.”
Jackman continues to prioritize his fitness well into his fifties. Navigating a busy career as an accomplished actor, there’s no denying that at the very least, he’s mastered hard work and nutrition to boast such a ripped physique.
