Roelly Winklaar, a top-tier IFBB Pro, is staying in tremendous shape despite time away from the stage. In a recent Instagram post, shared on June 22, 2025, he showed off his massive arms in celebration of his 47th birthday.
Throughout his tenure, Winklaar sported triceps and biceps that looked downright cartoonish. He knew how to leverage his freak factor to find success in the IFBB Pro League. In 2018, he secured third place on the prestigious Mr. Olympia stage, pushing finalists Phil Heath and the late Shawn Rhoden to the brink of defeat.
In recent years, “The Beast” decided to downsize his physique. However, he’s yet to formally announce his retirement, leaving fans unsure if he’ll ever decide to come back. Making matters more complicated, Winklaar went under the knife for a five-hour-long shoulder surgery, which has since impacted his training. In spite of these obstacles, he has still managed to retain his massive arms.

“Thanks to God for another beautiful year and amazing people around me 🙏🏽 Blessed” shared Roelly Winklaar.
Of late, the bodybuilding mainstay confirmed he hasn’t completely shut the door on a potential return. After giving his top predictions for the 2025 Arnold Classic, Winklaar opened up on whether he’d seriously consider entering a Masters Olympia event, a show reserved for older bodybuilders who still have a passion for competing. Ultimately, Winklaar wasn’t interested in a Masters Olympia return:
“No, the guys are good man,” Winklaar said.
“You don’t think you can beat these guys?” asks James.
“No,” Winklaar said.
It’s been a while since Winklaar competed. Though he accepts how his career unfolded, he can’t help but feel politics may have swayed the judges to favor certain athletes when he competed actively, stressing that “if you get angry, your place would be worse.”
While it’s uncertain if we’ll ever see Winklaar make his bodybuilding return, that hasn’t stopped him from helping shape the next generation of Men’s Open talent. He joined Andrew Jacked for a high-volume leg workout, imparting wisdom and tips to the surging Nigerian native. He’s also pumped iron alongside former two-time Arnold Classic champion William Bonac.
Winklaar’s massive arms would likely hold up today against some of the world’s best. He continues to inspire fans of the sport after a career full of highlights.
