KANNAPOLIS, North Carolina – Norfolk State baseball standout Jalan Jones will represent the Spartans at a premiere showcase event this summer.
Jones has been selected to the Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game, featuring 44 of the top HBCU baseball prospects in the country.
The sophomore outfielder has enjoyed a breakthrough spring campaign, racking up 56 hits, 33 RBIs, 10 doubles, two triples and 17 walks while posting a .320 batting average and .396 on base percentage.
Hitting eight home runs, Jones has combined power with speed – stealing 12 bases. He helped lead the Spartans to a dominant victory over league-leading Central Connecticut State, recording three hits, two runs, and four RBIs.
The Minority Prospects HBCU All-Star Weekend will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Atrium Health Park, home of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. The festivities will celebrate the legacy of HBCU athletics, offering exciting events for fans of all ages.
The All-Star Game will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 31. Tickets can be purchased here.
