It’s not every day fans get to watch two dominant Mr. Olympia champions size each other up. In a YouTube video released on June 17, 2025, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronnie Coleman teamed up for a delt and arm-focused workout at Gold’s Gym Venice.
Schwarzenegger’s bodybuilding career was filled with highlights. He won his first Mr. Olympia title in 1970 and held the honor for as long as he wanted. He decided to part ways with competitive bodybuilding after 1975, then came back to win the 1980 Mr. Olympia, which earned him his seventh title against finalists Chris Dickerson and Frank Zane.
Coleman’s Open ascent came in the 1990s. He claimed his first Sandow trophy in 1998 and didn’t let it go for eight consecutive years, tying Lee Haney for an all-time record. Since his time in the sport, Coleman has faced a wave of health issues, most notably from back surgeries.
Today, he struggles to walk without assistance but believes that will change in a few years, thanks to dedicated rehabilitation and stem cell therapy procedures. With 15 Olympia titles shared between Schwarzenegger and Coleman, they gave fans a treat and tested each other’s strength with an intense training session under the California sun.

Throughout the training session, Schwarzenegger and Coleman counted reps for each other. ‘The Austrian Oak’ was impressed with Coleman’s pace and strength:
“You’re training special, just to come out here and show off. Typical Ronnie Coleman, unbelievable,” said Schwarzenegger.
“Nothing to it but to do it,” replied Coleman.
Schwarzenegger and Coleman recently linked up for a special outing that didn’t include lifting weights. They joined each other, as well as rising bodybuilding influencer Sam Sulek, for the Season 2 Netflix premiere of FUBAR, an action-comedy-spy thriller. Before the event, Schwarzenegger also got a brutal back workout in with Sulek.
With the sport constantly changing, Schwarzenegger has gone to great lengths in order to keep up. The 77-year-old announced that the 2026 Arnold Classic will hand out $750,000 to its winner. As it stands, the Mr. Olympia currently awards $600,000 to its champion, but perhaps that will change on the horizon.
Schwarzenegger and Coleman are living legends and boast exceptional longevity in retirement. Both men continue to pursue strength and muscle building since stepping away from the sport.
