ATLANTA, Ga. – Coppin State’s Reagan Rivera and Daniel Moore will participate in the Third Annual HBCU Swingman Classic, presented by T-Mobile and powered by the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation, it was announced by Major League Baseball last week. The game will feature the 50 most promising HBCU all-stars ready for the professional leagues with both Rivera and Moore on the National League roster.
The All-Star Game is set for Friday, July 11 at Truist Park in Atlanta, and takes place during MLB All-Star Week with former Atlanta Braves stars Brian Jordan and David Justice managing the National League and American League squads, respectively.
Rivera was a Second Team All-Northeast Conference selection after going 5-4 with a 4.91 earned run average while striking out a CSU record 97 batters in 80.2 innings last season. A native of San Diego, Calif., Rivera struck out at least seven batters in ten of his 14 starts with 11 strikeouts against Le Moyne and ten more in just five innings against VMI.
An infielder from Benton Harbor, Mich., Moore hit .330 while leading the Eagles with 12 doubles and 36 RBI to go with a pair of home runs. Moore put up 13 multi-hit games with four four-hit games along with a team-high eight games with multiple RBI.
